Jnana Kaveri campus

Kodagu University came into existence with the aim of serving the underprivileged and economically backward section of students of Kodagu and nearby districts. The University started out as a Post Graduate center of Mangalore University under the guidance of the then Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.C. Shivashankar Murthy with an allotment of 70.47 acres of land. The foundation stone was set by then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yeddyurappa, and Members of the Legislative Assembly on November 15, 2010. The Post Graduate Centre was inaugurated on January 7, 2014, by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. Siddaramaiah and the Members of the Legislative Assembly. For the past 09 years, University has strived to provide industry-standard education to Kodagu students and students of nearby districts like Mysuru, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, and the state of Kerala.
    The campus provides adequate facilities and infrastructure for the pursuit of excellence in higher education. The facilities include a Science block, a Humanities block, a guest house, and a designated hostel for men and women.
The campus houses Post Graduate departments of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Yogic Science, and Master’s in Commerce, MA in Kannada, History, Political Science, and M.Sc. in Botany, Chemistry, and Computer Science. The campus also offers diploma and certification courses in Kodava language and Yogic sciences.
    The University library has a collection of 10,000 books and journals, required for teaching and research work. The Science block hosts a well-equipped laboratory for Botany, Chemistry, Environmental science, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. The students are benefitted from well-equipped classrooms, transport facilities, free Wi-Fi, CC TV surveillance, and round-the-clock security personnel.
     Departments of Biochemistry and Microbiology provide Ph.D. programs to national and international students. Many researchers have been awarded doctoral degrees. The professors of various departments have taken up research projects by getting grants from UGC, DST, and other reputed institutes.
   As per UGC norms, a total of 11 committees including the Anti-Ragging Cell, Women's Cell, SPARSH, Canteen Committee, Human Rights Cell, Student Welfare Office, SC/ST Cell, Village Adoption Programme, Transport Committee, NSS and Swach Bharath Committee have been functioning continuously in our center. Thousands of students who have successfully completed their master's degrees from the Jnana Kaveri campus are currently contributing to society by working in various capacities in government, and private organizations.
